Øystre Slidre Cycling Guide — Valdres, Norway

Øystre Slidre is Valdres' cultural heartland — and one of the region's most varied cycling destinations. From Slidrefjorden lake at 366 m above sea level to the Valdresflya plateau at 1,389 m, you have 1,000 metres of elevation and an extraordinary range of terrain. Ancient mountain farm roads (stølsveier), 900-year-old stave churches, and some of Norway's finest gravel cycling all converge here.

Is Øystre Slidre good for cycling?

Yes — Øystre Slidre is one of Valdres' best cycling areas. Slidrefjorden offers relaxed family routes on flat terrain, while Beitostølen and Valdresflya provide challenging climbs to 1,389 m. Gravel and mountain farm roads are the speciality. Season: May–October; Mjølkevegen and Valdresflya typically open 10–20 June.
