<AnswerBox
  question="Is Golsfjellet good for cycling?"
answer="Yes — Golsfjellet is Norway's most thoroughly mapped cycling mountain with hundreds of kilometres of marked routes. 9 of them are listed here, from the short family-friendly Lauvsjø Rundt (5 km) to the long Tisleidalen Rundt (43 km). All routes are suitable for e-bikes. The train to Gol station from Oslo takes 3.5 hours."

Golsfjellet sits on the border between Hallingdal and Valdres, at 800–1,100 metres above sea level. It is the eastern gateway to Valdres and the starting point for Mjølkevegen. The mountain is known for one thing above all: systematic signage and marking of cycling routes. Nowhere in Valdres — perhaps in all of Norway — is it so easy to find your way.

## Who is Golsfjellet for?

Golsfjellet is the best place in Valdres if you are new to gravel cycling or want a safe, well-marked experience. The routes are varied enough that experienced cyclists will also find a challenge, but the low-threshold routes (Lauvsjø Rundt, Einarsetrunden) are genuinely family-friendly — not just "easy" by adult standards.

**Train travellers:** Gol station is 3.5 hours from Oslo S by train. From there it is a short distance to Golsfjellet. Perfect for a weekend trip without a car.

### Easy routes — perfect for beginners and families

**[Lauvsjø Rundt](/ruter/lauvsjo-rundt) — 5.3 km, 30 hm**
The shortest and easiest route on Golsfjellet. A loop around the lovely mountain lake Lauvsjøen on a flat gravel road. Suitable for children from age 5–6 and anyone who wants a leisurely ride. Half a day return from Golsfjellet Fjellstue.

**[Einarsetrunden](/ruter/einarsetrunden) — 12.6 km, 150 hm**
A family loop through old summer-farm country. Quiet gravel roads and open landscape. Suitable for children from age 8. A good introduction to mountain gravel in small doses.

**[Vesle Golsfjellrunden](/ruter/vesle-golsfjellrunden) — 20 km, 280 hm**
The shortest of the "proper" Golsfjellet loops. Well marked, open plateau scenery and mountain lakes along the way. Gravel beginners who want to try the mountain without overdoing it — this is your route.

**[Pardisrunden](/ruter/pardisrunden) — 18 km, 240 hm**
Quiet gravel roads through birch forest and across open boggy plateaus. Easy and pleasant — great as an active rest day after a tough one.

**[Blomeslettrunden](/ruter/blomeslettrunden) — 22.7 km, 310 hm**
A little more variety than the shorter loops. Works well as an introduction to Golsfjellet for those who want a bit more distance.

---

### Moderate routes — for those with some experience

**[Golsfjellet Rundt](/ruter/golsfjellet-rundt) — 31.9 km, 450 hm**
The classic Golsfjellet loop. A marked circuit with good signage through open mountain scenery. Wide views towards Hemsedal and Hallingdal. Summer farms and rest spots along the way. Allow 2.5–4 hours of riding time.

**[Hallingrunden](/ruter/hallingrunden) — 35.1 km, 520 hm**
Crosses into Hallingdal's mountain areas and offers more terrain variety than the pure Golsfjellet loop. Varied: plateau, birch forest and old tracks. For those who want to explore beyond the plateau.

**[Golsfjellet Gravelrunde](/ruter/golsfjellet-gravel) — 40 km, 480 hm**
A longer gravel loop through the highlights of Golsfjellet's landscape: mountain lakes, summer farms, wide views. Consider combining with an overnight stay at Golsfjellet Fjellstue or Storefjell Resort Hotel.

**[Tisleidalen Rundt](/ruter/tisleidalen-rundt) — 43.1 km, 620 hm**
The most demanding of the Golsfjellet loops. Takes you down into Tisleidalen and back up — more climbing and more variety than the others. For those who want a real challenge without leaving the well-marked network.
